Learning never exhausts the mind. – Leonardo da Vinci

Leonardo Da Vinci is right. Learning NEVER exhausts the mind. Learning to the mind is like food to the stomach and oxygen to your brain.

They compliment and benefit each other. The more the better.

Smart people commit to learning all the time, 24/7. And smart people don’t just learn as much as they can everyday, they use and act on that information too.

So what do I mean by smart people? I don’t mean people with degrees or good grades as society would have you believe.

I’m talking about people who take actions and do things that make a lot of sense.

Here’s why smart people commit to self improvement everyday.

1. To spark new ideas

It could be as simple as an Idea for a blog post, a book title, a business or an online marketing campaign.

It’s a fact that reading and learning as much as possible can spark brand new ideas.

That’s the magic of gaining new knowledge and information. It’s no different from a recipe or a hot drink. Adding two spoons of sugar to a cup of tea tastes a lot different to having tea without sugar.

And gaining new knowledge can do the same thing to your brain.

2. To avoid stupidity

People aren’t stupid because they’re stupid, people are stupid because they lack knowledge, refuse to learn, then end up doing something stupid as a result.

When I attended my first job interview I shown up to the interview in my casual clothes. And by casual clothes I mean a hooded top and bottoms.

I didn’t know any better because I lacked the knowledge, didn’t commit to learning, and had never been told otherwise. That was STUPID.

When I started selling on eBay I used to write down EVERY customers name, address and post code for each parcel I sent off. And I took unprofessional pictures of my products. That was STUPID.

A smarter option would of been to buy a label printer, and have the whole process automated. Not to mention learn more about taking product pictures.

Can you relate? You’ve got to commit to self improvement to avoid stupidity.

3. To Improve their level of skills

I read new material everyday without fail. It’s a habit, and a good habit to say the least.

Smart people do the same on a daily basis. Or something similar.

Why do I read everyday? To level up my skills! New knowledge can help me become a better writer, author, blogger, entrepreneur, business man, communicator, salesman and so on.

Smart people want to get smarter and better at what they’re doing, so daily self improvement is a must.

4. To Improve their financial intelligence

When you look at wealthy and rich people in awe and admiration, and come out with statements like “he/she’s so smart”, there’s a reason.

And one of those reasons is to improve their financial intelligence.

And It’s not just rich and wealthy people, It’s people who are in the process of building their wealth and financial freedom.

Or at least have made the decision to build their wealth and financial freedom.

You’ve got to know and learn as much as possible about money, finances, income and more to better your financial situation.

Just like you’ve got learn more to improve upon what you’re learning about.

And by the way, being rich and wealthy doesn’t mean being a billionaire or whatever. Being rich and wealthy means different things to different people, that’s for you to define.

5. To Improve their quality of life

The guy or girl you consider to be a geek because they read a lot is smarter than you for a reason.

They’re interested in improving their quality of life rather than settling for a below average, bland and unfulfilled lifestyle.

If you know life can and should be of a better quality, the smart thing to do would be learn everyday.

Learn how to make improvements. Learn how to make positive changes, and learn how to make progress.

The smart person knows this and commits to it everyday, even If they’ve yet to accomplish it.

6. To solve problems

We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them. – Albert Einstein

90% of people bitch, moan, complain, and stress about their problems. And they wonder why their problems never seem to go away.

Smart people know you can’t solve problems with the same level of thinking that created those problems.

So what do they do? Commit to learning and self improvement everyday to seek solutions.

It’s dumb to believe you can solve a problem without shifting your mindset. Take Einsteins advice and think bigger. Commit to learning as much as you can everyday.

7. To become more valuable

Try not to become a man of success, but rather try to become a man of value. – Albert Einstein

That could mean being more valuable in your career, relationship, business or community.

Smart people know the more they commit to learning and self improvement, the more valuable they’ll become.

In case you’re a little confused, here are three definitions for the word valuable.

  1. Having considerable monetary or material value for use or exchange. (a valuable diamond.)
  2. Of great importance, use, or service. (valuable information, valuable advice.)
  3. Having admirable or esteemed qualities or characteristics. (a valuable friend.)
  4. I want to create more value as a blogger, writer, author and a business person.

I want to become more valuable to the industry.

I want to become more valuable to my readers.

I want to become more valuable to society.

So what do I do? I commit to learning everyday. I commit to self improvement everyday.

And I can guarantee you, smart people are doing the same thing.

The more knowledge you have, the more valuable you can be.

The more valuable you are, the more recognition, respect and admiration you’ll get.

The more valuable you are, the more important you’ll become to others. It’s that simple!
