Have you ever watched The Matrix?
Despite it being one of the best action films of it’s time, it has some important life lessons that paints a realistic picture of how differently people think.
There’s a part of the film where Morpheus has a moment with Neo. And he explains the differences between:
- Swallowing the red pill.
- Or taking the blue pill.
Here’s what Morpheus tells neo:
“You take the blue pill, the story ends. You wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill, you stay in Wonderland, and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes.” – Morpheus
So what does that mean in simple terms?
- Red pill = you accept reality for what it is. Including the hard truths, which gives you a sense of freedom and happiness. This mentality allows you to grow and develop because you’re not held back by limiting beliefs.
- Blue pill = you deny reality, be ignorant, and delude yourself into believing your own bullshit to protect your self-esteem. Which keeps you stagnant. This is the majority of society.
Most people swallow the blue pill because it’s less frightening and more comfortable.
And through delusion they come to see this as the truth.
But in reality the truth is the opposite:
By swallowing the red pill, you free yourself from delusions and myths that are designed to keep you “safe”. Which then makes you happier and more self-aware as a result.
So the reason people see the world full of lies is it’s safer and more comfortable to deal with that way.
After all it’s hard fucking work facing the truth, and turning that into a lifestyle.
But in their ignorance (people who swallow the blue pill), they fail to realize doing the opposite would bring happiness.
So instead they create a jail for themselves and trap their own minds within it.
It’s something worth thinking about on a deep level.
What’s your take on it?
